Speaking Comprehension Test for 9th Form Students

Directions:

In this Test you will select three task slips from those before you. After selecting three choose one you feel you are most capable to speak about and return the other two to the table face down. Then take about a minute to collect your thoughts before you begin to speak on the topic. You may refer to the topic as needed.

1. What roles do our friends play in our lives?

· Do they have positive or negative influences?

2. What do you look for in a friend? Use specific examples to support your answer.

3. You are awarded a 10-day tour about Ukraine or any country abroad. You can choose only one city to visit.

· Give your reasons where to go.

· Present information on the place the city is situated.

· What historic events took place in it, places of interest.

4. Every day people make choices that affect their health.

· What are the most important components of a healthy lifestyle?

· How do you keep yourself healthy?

· What can be done to convince people with unhealthy habits to live a healthy lifestyle?

Speaking Comprehension Test for 10th Form Students

Directions:

In this Test you will select three task slips from those before you. After selecting three choose one you feel you are most capable to speak about and return the other two to the table face down. Then take about a minute to collect your thoughts before you begin to speak on the topic. You may refer to the topic as needed.

1. Develop a fitness programme for yourself. Describe the type of food you eat, and the type of health programme you like to follow.

2. Should governments act to control the Internet or should it be uncensored?

3. Do you prefer to book holidays through travel agents or to make your own arrangements? Describe your best and worst holidays.

4. There are usually pleasant and unpleasant sides to every job. Choose three jobs you would like to do and find pros and cons.

5. Mobile telephones have become very popular nowadays. However, some people say that their use should be restricted. What can you say for and against using a mobile telephone?

6. Computers open up new roads in education. Do you think learning will ever take place without teachers?

7. Most friendships begin with shared interests. We like people who share our attitudes and values. Can you think of examples of friends who are very different from each other? Why do you think they became friends?

8. What aspect of English do you find most difficult? How do you cope with the problem?

9. A friend wants to get to know your country and is planning a tour. What advice would you give about places to visit, travel, accommodation, eating out, shopping, sightseeing, things to bring and souvenirs to buy?

Directions:

In this Test you will select three task slips from those before you. After selecting three choose one you feel you are most capable to speak about and return the other two to the table face down. Then take about a minute to collect your thoughts before you begin to speak on the topic. You may refer to the topic as needed.

1. You have just been appointed head of public relations for all of Ukraine. It is your job to encourage tourism in this country.

• What aspects of places in Ukraine do you consider to be the most important for foreign tourists?

• What are some problems that tourists might face in Ukraine? How would you change these problems?

• Think of a motto for Ukraine's tourist industry.

2. You are going to start a new business. You have the money, you have the space, and you have the workers.

• What product will you sell?

• What types of people would be interested in your product?

• How will you advertise this product? Give a sample advertisement motto.

3. When people need to complain about a product or poor service, some prefer to complain in writing and others prefer to complain in person. Which way do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
